| The former Hibernia Bank Building in New Orleans' Central Business District, has been displaying purple, green and gold lights on its domed top in honor of Mardi Gras for many years. Heralding the Mardi Gras season, the display is a local landmark and one that's always welcome. |

| When the building on Gravier Street was constructed in 1921, it was, at that time, the tallest building in the state of Louisiana. Hibernia sold the building in 1983, but retained the lease. A national bank has purchased Hibernia since that time, but still illuminates the dome of the building in the same time-honored tradition: purple, green and gold during Mardi Gras and red and green during the holiday season. |
