Autumn is an invigorating time of year, with its brilliant splashes of colorful leaves and its cool, bracing mornings. It gives us the renewed energy that a sluggish summer's heat has depleted.
But Autumn can, also, be a reflective and peaceful time of year, when a morning mist envelops us in perfect stillness and a rich blue sky colors our world with a surprising sense of tranquility. Our thoughts often turn inward as winter approaches and we figuratively, if not literally, gather Autumn's bounty, prepare to safeguard our homes and gardens from winter's ravages and plan for a time of less outdoor activity and more introspection and contemplation.
