The polar bear never makes his bed, he sleeps on a cake of ice instead. He has no blanket, no quilt, no sheet, except the rain and snow and sleet. The cold winds howl and blizzards blow and the temperature drops to forty below. If ever he rose and turned on the light, he would find a world of bathtub white... ...and icebergs floating through the night. -- William Jay Smith

Penguins cautiously reside on our planet's underside, Where they're careful not to cough, lest they trip and tumble off. -- Jack Prelutsky

Ms. Rolly Polly Polar Bear was skating on the ice; She did a lovely pirouette and then she did it twice. And, all along the sidelines, there amidst the crowd, Penguins wearing top hats clapped and cheered out loud. Brava, Ms. Rolly Polar Bear! Brava! Encore! Again! We haven't seen such poise and grace since who remembers when. "Look! The Moon is like a spotlight, the snow all silver blue, And we have come a long, long way, to see all you can do." Ms. Rolly Polly Polar Bear was as thrilled as she could be. She curtsied quite politely and smiled for all to see. She didn't even think to ask, nor wonder, how they'd come, These handsome penguins from the south, below the setting Sun.
You see, there are no penguins in the Arctic way up north, Where polar bears skate on the ice and practice their fine sport. So, if they want to travel North, to see the skating show, They save up all their fish bones for a ticket, and they go. But, here's a little something that very few have heard, There's a tunnel running north to south, through he center of the earth! So, way down in Antarctica, when he has travel on his mind, A penguin books a ticket on the Through-Earth Tunnel Ride! -- Author Unknown
There's a polar bear in our Fridgidaire; He likes it 'cause it's cold in there. With his seat in the meat and his face in the fish, And his big furry paws in the buttery dish, He's nibbling the noodles, he's munching the rice, He's slurping the soda, he's licking the ice. And he lets out a roar if you open the door. And it gives me a scare to know he's in there, That polary bear in our Fridgitydaire! -- Shel Silverstein

When do penguins change their clothes? They must have others, I suppose. Can it be that they're always dressed in party clothes, that can't be messed? Gathered in suits of black and white, perfect for some formal night. Do they expect a king or queen to grace their distant glacial scene? It would make me feel much better...if I knew they owned a sweater! -- Author Unknown

I would feel more optimistic about a bright future if man spent less time trying to prove that he can outwit nature and more time respecting her seniority. -- E. B. White Humankind has not woven the web of life; we are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. -- Chief Seattle Only when the last tree has died and the last river poisoned, will we realize we cannot eat money. -- Indian Proverb
According to worldwide scientific research, at the current rate of global warming, these Great White Bears will be wiped out before the end of this century. ~~~~~~~~~
