As Time Goes By
Unlike most of my pages, there's no "theme" behind this page's
quotes, they're all random quotes I've saved along the way,
having nothing at all in common...except that I like them.
The pictures on this page are all from the country of Morocco, several of them taken in the
city of Casablanca.  The city brings mystery, intrigue, romance and adventure to mind, in part,
because of its exotic, colorful history, but, mainly, thanks to the iconic movie of the same name.
If you travel to Casablanca today, you'll actually find "Rick's Cafe," the interior arranged and
decorated in the style of the movie version of "Rick's."  A man sits at a piano and takes requests,
the most often requested song is "As Time Goes By."  ("Play it again, Sam!")  I'd like to think that
Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman are sitting at a table in the corner, enjoying the show.

Above, Rick's Cafe American, from the movie "Casablanca."  Below, the
1940 Buick, from the last scene in the movie, recently sold at auction for
$461,000.00.  "Casablanca's" piano - the one that helped make the song
"As Time Goes By" so popular - sold at the same auction for $602,500.00.
It's not our job to toughen our children up to face a cruel and
heartless world.  It's our job to raise children who will make
the world a little less cruel and heartless.
