Snow in the City |
Once every decade or so, it snows in south Louisiana. Though it rarely accumulates to a measurable degree, all over town you'll see tries at snowman-building (okay, little snowmen, but snowmen, nonetheless :-). If it snows for a few hours, the schools will generally close. I've never been sure if that's to give the children a once-or-twice in a childhood chance to play in the snow, or because natives of warm weather climates are notoriously bad drivers in unaccustomed winter weather and they're concerned for the children's safety. Either way, it's a fun day, which is about how long the dusting will last before it melts into our collective memories. But, oh, the lovely memories. Nancy |
