Nine-Tenths of Wisdom |
~ The photos on this page were taken in Switzerland. ~ |
I'd intended to create a 4th of July page today, but plans very often go astray. They went far astray this week when my granddaughter sustained an injury that required surgery. We were all beside ourselves with worry (except for my granddaughter, who seemed to take the event in stride). Thankfully, everything went well and she should suffer no permanent effects from the injury. She's doing much better and I have an idea that she may recover from the surgery before the rest of us recover from the stress. (Which would be all right with me because I so hate to see her not feeling well!) Since Tuesday, the only thing that's been on my mind is how thankful I am. So, instead of Independence Day, as I'd intended, gratitude is the subject of today's page. Because I am so very grateful. -- Nancy |
Gratitude is when memory is stored in the heart and not in the mind. -- Lionel Hampton |

We are grateful to remember the gifts we have received. We are doubly blessed when we receive something, for the gift itself and later, in recall, for the miracle of having been given it. -- M.J. Ryan |
Gratitude can transform common days into thanksgivings, turn routine jobs into joy and change ordinary opportunities into blessings. -- William Arthur Ward |
Reflect upon your present blessings, of which everyone has plenty; not on your past misfortunes, of which everyone has some. -- Charles Dickens |
Nothing is more honorable than a grateful heart. -- Lucius Seneca |
The question is not what a man can scorn or find fault with, but what he can value and appreciate. -- John Ruskin |
Write down what you're grateful for, even little things like green grass or a friendly conversation with somebody in an elevator. You will start to realize how rich you are. -- Jim Carrey |
Appreciation is a wonderful thing; it makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well. -- Francois Voltaire |
Appreciate everything, take nothing for granted. -- Benjamin Disraeli |
