The Pyrenees
The Pyrenees Mountain Range sits between Spain and France and is known, among other things, for its beautiful scenery, rich history, Romanesque villages, bicycle treks and famous breed of dogs.  These photos are from the French side of the Pyrenees.  It was hard to narrow it down to only one page of photographs---the scenery is so amazing, the area draws photographers from all over the world.
Enjoy.  Nancy
In the mythic tradition, the mountain is the bond between earth and sky.  Its summit reaches the sphere of eternity and its base spreads out in manifold foothills into the world of mortals.
Doubly happy is the man for whom lofty mountain tops are within reach, for the lights that shine there illumine all that lies below.  -- John Muir
What is the voice of strange command
Calling you still, as friend calls friend,
With love that cannot brook delay,
To rise and follow the ways that wend
Over the hills and far away.
Beauty seen is never lost, God's colors all are fast;
The glory of this sunset heaven into my soul has passed.
-- John Greenleaf Whittier
Over every mountain there is a path, although it may not be seen from the valley.  -- James Rogers
Oh, these vast, calm, measureless mountain days!  Days in whose light everything seems equally divine.  One who has gained the blessings of one mountain day, whatever his fate, he is rich forever.  -- John Muir
Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul alike.  -- John Muir
Walk away quietly in any direction and taste the freedom of the mountaineer.  Camp out among the grasses and gentians of glacial meadows, in craggy garden nooks full of nature's darlings.  Climb the mountains and get their good tidings.  Nature's peace will flow into you as sunshine flows into trees.  The winds will blow their own freshness into you and the storm their energy, while cares will drop off like autumn leaves.  -- John Muir
Our way is not soft grass.  It's a mountain path with lots of rocks.
But it goes upward, forwrard...toward the sun.  -- Unknown
And, last, but certainly not least, a picture of a Great Pyrenees.

Live your life each day as you would climb a mountain.  An occasional glance towards the summit keeps the goal in mind, but many beautiful scenes are to be observed from each new vantage point.  -- Harold B. Melchart
