| My Carmichael and McCormick ancestors emigrated to North Carolina in the 1700's, from the Isle of Lismore, Appin, Argylle, Scotland. They were the first families I researched after becoming interested in genealogy. Although I've researched many other family lines since that time--Irish, English, Welsh and Swiss--these Scottish families and their home in the Highlands hold an especially dear place in my heart. I hope some of the genealogy websites represented by the links below will help in the search for your Scottish roots and the history sites will give you an enriched understanding of the lives our ancestors left behind.
