My Carmichael and McCormick ancestors emigrated to North Carolina in the 1700's, from the Isle of Lismore, Appin, Argylle, Scotland. They were the first families I researched after becoming interested in genealogy. Although I've researched many other family lines since that time--Irish, English, Welsh and Swiss--these Scottish families and their home in the Highlands hold an especially dear place in my heart.
